Come To Me
This is one of the first pieces I wrote after learning piano. It was written with a “Prodigal Son” heart in that I looked into my past and the destructive choices that were made. It was there that Jesus’ words, “Come to me” really changed my life.
This recording is what I call a “concept” recording. By no means is it a perfect recording. I will use it to later figure out what instrumentation I will add. I wanted to share this because it is one of my favorite songs I have written. Please let me know what you think.
Verse 1: Look who has come to the end of the line.
Falling down, You’re falling down and nothing is fine.
Searching for the answers most everywhere
Wandering here and there. That bag full of promise has turned into lies.
Left you in despair.
Verse 2: Hello again regret, I didn’t want to see you again
Listening, I’m listening but the worldly noise keeps breakin’ in
The biggest fear I have is that I have wandered so far
Wandered so far away. Tarnished, bruised and battered far beyond repair
Then I hear your clear voice say.
Chorus – Come To Me (4x)
Verse 3: The years upon this road has taken a heavy toll
Some from here and some from there weighs upon this troubled soul
Everyday is a battle and a violent fight
Choose between wrong and right. I’m fallen down before you for some peace of mind
When I hear your clear voice say (Chorus)
When You’re Near
This is actually one of the first songs that I wrote when I was learning guitar. I was early to an appointment and had my guitar in the car and there was a chord strum that was just magical. Having just fallen in love with Tina the words literally came in just a few minutes. The deal was, if we married, the title was to have her name in it. Here is an acoustic live version of “When You’re Near: Tina’s Song.”
Chorus:
I Love You, it isn’t hard to say, when you’re near.
Forever, isn’t far away, when you’re near.
Verse 1
Baby, you are my dream, Oh yes you are. You are everything I prayed for.
Baby, you are beautiful inside and out.
Verse 2
Forever, is it long enough, Oh no no no. To be with you and to love you
Forever, this is my time to love you.
